We recognise that in order to recruit the best people and best serve our clients in an increasingly diverse city and country it is important that we are understand and embody diversity in all its forms.
The profile of our team illustrates our record on diversity and inclusion. It shows a gender balance at the senior level rare if not unparalleled amongst our comparator law firms, behind which is a progressive and can-do approach to flexible and part-time working. We recruit talented and promising lawyers regardless of gender, age, background, race or other differentiators. We see the benefits as individuals, as a team and as a business.
Our diversity, looked at more holistically, is also embodied in our experience. Members of our team have worked across Asia Pacific, the Middle East and Europe, for corporate clients and in a pro bono context, as external lawyers, in-house advisors and in non-legal roles, all of which has given us an awareness of, adaptability to and respect for different business, social and cultural environments
The primary focus of our diversity strategy and programme is on achieving gender diversity at partnership level. We invest in business development skills coaching and mentoring for female senior associates (including those working part time), focused on developing the skills and networks required for partnership.
Every member of our team benefits from flexible working arrangements (including part-time, job share and fixed hours arrangements), enabling us all to enjoy family and other life outside of work in balance with our professional commitments.
We do not “clock watch”. Our appraisals and remuneration are based on outcomes achieved rather than hours worked, promoting efficiency and innovation in the way we work.
We practice “open partnership”, with senior associates involved in and taking shared responsibility for firm strategy, business development, marketing and other key decision-making, with a view to developing partnership capability. This feeds into our diversity strategy to convert diversity within the firm into diversity within the partnership
